The Kuhio School Multicultural Health and Wellness Fair - May 22, 2010

Mahalo and kudos to Leslie and the other KM volunteers (sorry, I'm terrible with names) who set up a booth at the Fair and educated us about how food cooperatives work and why they're worthwhile and gave out samples and sold our delicious oat cakes.

The Fair was a great success. Some of my favorites were the Taiko drumming and the Karate demonstrations. One teen girl kicked butt on several guys on the mat and drew cheers from the crowd! Blood pressures and BMIs were… Continue

actually we were Ashley's third owners, she was purchased from Pet's Central (I think she was born in Australia) as a puppy (sammy). The owner had 2 different dogs and the other dog was a watchdog, but Ashley wasn't so they gave her to a friend. The friend gave her back bc she was too "michievious." (typical for a bored sammy) We somehow became the third owners. I didn't like her stubboness at first, but now as I look back I am thankful we received her. We lived with her in Pearl City and Makiki, but she had also lived in Kailua, Makakilo and Ewa Beach. Ashley moved to Louisiana with my daughter in 2007, so I must go there to visit her. But she will be 12 years old this September and if my family returns to Hawaii I hope that Ashley will be able to make the trip too. She is a purebred sammy and when she shed her winter coat in the spring or summer coat in the fall, there was hair everywhere! She is a housedog. I know that there are some sammy owners that show their dogs at the dog shows at King Middle school in Kaneohe. In fact, there might be one this Saturday, but I'm not sure of the time. Since Ashley moved away I use her pics (they were taken in Hawaii) and remember her unique personality. Sorry, long answer to a short question.
